From the earliest days of SCRIBE, we’ve maintained a commitment to bringing an inquisitive and innovative eye toward our winemaking. Sometimes a rarely seen varietal, sometimes a new experimentation of one of our Estate wines – always pulling something distinct and delicious from this site. These ‘Deep Cuts’ represent that exploration.

Jasmine, Beeswax, Nashi Pear
Each vintage we bottle a handful of cases of off-dry Riesling to study how that residual sugar evolves in the bottle, and also simply for our own enjoyment. The ‘22 vintage is a stunner.

(1) 2023 SCRIBE Estate Edelzwicker
Meyer Lemon, Honeysuckle, Sea Salt
Our Estate Edelzwicker (German for noble blend), features the three white varietals grown on our estate: Sylvaner, Riesling, and Chardonnay. We made the last (and only other) vintage of this wine in 2013 – ten years ago. We have decided to continue with this tradition and  make an Edelzwicker blend only once every decade.

Wild Strawberry, Rhubarb, Thyme
The effervescence of this bottling lifts the wild and rustic aromatics of the Estate Mission fruit into a wine that is both elegantly complex and satisfyingly savory. We recommend serving this wine chilled.

(1) 2022 SCRIBE St. Laurent
Elderberry, Mint Tea, Violet
We have a deep appreciation for the distinct, aromatic and mysterious St. Laurent varietal and we’ve been lucky enough to source this fruit from a vineyard just down the road – the only planting of this native Austrian grape in all of California.
