BLACK TEA * RED PLUM * STAR ANISE
The Mission grape was the first European grapevine cultivated in California but has rarely been planted post-Prohibition. We know that it thrived here on the SCRIBE Estate in the 1800s from archival records that detail the quality of the Mission wines from this property.
In the spirit of curiosity and exploration, we planted two acres of Mission in front of the Hacienda to explore its potential in our era. Two centuries later, this vineyard yields a spirited red wine we like to serve chilled to highlight its bright, spicy fruit and gravelly, rustic tannins.
